Edward Franklin "Eddie" Lloyd, Sr. was born Aug 4, 1928 in Paris, Virginia at the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains.
He lived most of his life in Virginia and for years worked as a retail store manager in the paint industry. His work ethic was outstanding. Eddie was also proud of the fact that he served his country as a member of the United States Army.
In November of 1949, he met the red-headed love of his life, Mary Ellen, and they remained together for over 62 unspeakably wonderful years. They clearly brought out the best in each other in their life together.
When they retired they moved to Florida to be close to their son and grandchildren. The last 10 years of his life he lived in Little Elm, Texas near his daughter.
He liked sports and supported the local teams making him a fan of the Florida Marlins and the Texas Rangers, the Miami Heat & the Dallas Mavericks. His loyalty to the Washington Redskins never wavered no matter where he lived.
Eddie was faithful to his family and his Lord. In Virginia, he was an active member of Bruen Chapel United Methodist Church, in Florida he helped plant the Everglades Community Church and at his death was an active member of Grace Avenue United Methodist Church in Frisco, Texas.
Yard work, growing his roses, and in his earlier years with Mary Ellen, square dancing were all loves of Eddie's. He also never tired of fishing.
He was the loving father of two sons and one daughter, Edward F. Lloyd, Jr. (deceased), Paul William Lloyd of Boynton Beach, Florida and Deborah Lloyd Jobe of Frisco, Texas.
In addition to being a devoted husband and loving father, Eddie was a proud grandfather to Tracey Lloyd, Jennifer Hermans , and Paul Lloyd, Jr. It thrilled him to be a great-grandfather to Alina Hermans & Bret Hermans. He was especially happy his granddaughters and great-granddaughters were red-headed like his beloved wife.
Eddie's life will be celebrated at a memorial service on Saturday, April 20, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at Grace Avenue United Methodist Church, 3521 Main Street, Frisco, Texas 75034.
