June 19, 1930 — January 10, 2013

Marie Claire Ethel Tremeear Thorsen
June 19, 1930 to January 10, 2013
Marie, a lifelong Catholic, was born in Marinette, Wisconsin. In 1949, she married her lifelong love, Wes Thorsen. Marie worked as a secretary before raising four daughters. At the age of 30, she and her young family moved to Sunnyvale, California to begin a new life where she met some of her lifelong friends. One of her favorite things to do was to enjoy a big, family breakfast after Sunday mass. After Sunnyvale, the family moved to Santa Barbara, California where the mountains hugged the beaches. She and her family had fun times at the beach. The one weekend she spent camping in Santa Barbara was enough "roughing it" for a lifetime. They moved to Danville, a developing neighborhood with friends of all ages and backgrounds that came together weekly for great times. Her vibrancy was contagious; she could start a party anywhere at any time. In 1970, Marie and her family moved to Richardson, Texas and became members of Canyon Creek Country Club; her swing was legendary. Always an avid golfer, this became a full time job for Marie. After a long day of cruising the course in her custom golf cart, Marie and her friends would often wind down with a cool martini and a dip in the pool - work was tough! She was an active leader in Girl Scouts, Junior Women's Group, Welcome Wagon, Bridge Club, and the Ladies Golf Association. Marie managed to juggle volunteering, parenting, and a busy social calendar all while maintaining a pristine home. She and Wes traveled together frequently. They took 31 golfing trips to Hawaii and countless others to Jamaica, Bermuda, Canada, and all over the United States. Her grandchildren will always appreciate the thoughtful knickknacks and stories she would share with them.
Marie is survived by husband Wes Thorsen, brother Bill and wife Betty, brother Mike and wife Judy, daughters Lynda Ruiz , Debbie Jester, Laura Fossier, Tamra Thorsen, sons-in-law Tony Ruiz, Mark Jester, Lenny Fossier, grandchildren Nathan Jester, Rachel Robinson, Sarah Fossier, Eden Fossier, Brittany Fossier, Trey Fossier, Ariana Ruiz, and great granddaughter Addy Jester. She was preceded in death by parents Vivian Tondreau and William Tremeear, and grandson Aaron Jester.
Marie will be missed by all of us, but her humor and love are impossible to extinguish.
