Eileen Anne Post was a friend to everyone she met; her kind heart will be missed by all who knew her. Eileen was born in Chicago in 1925 to parents John and Sally. She met her husband at her best friend Connie's going away party for her brother Bill prior to his deployment in World War II and their romance quickly bloomed. Their marriage lasted more than sixty-six years until Bill's passing. During the war, Eileen and Bill exchanged nearly daily letters. Eventually, the two were married at Tinker Air Force Base in Oklahoma City in the midst of the war. Their relationship was noted by Bill's fellow airmen; Eileen was named Miss Wing Ding by the Army Air Corps and Bill's plane was named after her. After the war ended and Bill returned home, Eileen took a job at Madigan's Department Store in Chicago where she worked for over twenty-five years as an executive secretary in the store's corporate office. It was there that she met and remained lifelong friends with her co-workers. During that time, Eileen gave birth to her only child, Linda. Linda remained the light of Eileen's life. Eileen eventually became a grandmother to Kristina and Will, whom she loved dearly. Eileen was such a loving and caring mother and grandmother. A few years ago Bill and Eileen moved to Texas and the family greatly enjoyed this reunification. Eileen spent as much time as possible with Linda, her loving grandchildren, and several family dogs. Eileen loved animals and adopted a rescue cat which she affectionately named Fluff. Bill and Eileen loved to dine out; it was a luxury they enjoyed quite often in retirement. Eileen had a prominent sweet tooth and loved pies and cakes and desserts of all sorts. After Bill passed away last summer, Eileen moved to Atria Assisted Living in Carrollton, Texas where she was able to remain close to her family but also created new friendships with her fellow residents and Atria staff members. Eileen remained sharp-witted and ambulatory until her final days; everyone who met her commented on her beautiful, youthful appearance and she was often mistaken for someone many years her junior. Eileen is preceded in death by her parents Sally and John and her husband Bill. Eileen leaves behind her daughter Linda Kwass (Bruce); grandchildren Kristina and Will Kwass; brother-in-laws Ronnie and Gene; cousins Sue, Danny, and Patrick; her beloved animals Rex, Joey, Fluff, and Gracie, and countless beloved family members and friends. Eileen was a woman who lived as full and long a life as anyone could hope for and will be missed by so many family and friends whose lives were made brighter and happier by her reliable, unwavering good nature and the light of her smiling face. The family will receive friends for a visitation Saturday, November 24, 2012 from 12:00-2:00 PM at Allen Family Funeral Options. Following the visitation there will be a graveside service to honor Eileen's life at Ridgeview Cemetery, Allen, Texas. If desired, memorials may be made in Eileen's name to Lost Paws of Texas, lostpawsrescueoftexas.org or 972-394-9373.
