Juanita Mae Langenegger

August 21, 1927 — September 11, 2012

Nita Langenegger passed away peacefully in her sleep at the age of 85 at her home in Dallas, Texas. A memorial service will be held at Christ United Methodist Church in Plano, Texas at 2:00 PM on Monday, October 1. Nita was born in Miami, Florida to parents Tivis Wade Devenport and Willie Bell Blalock. On November 6, 1944, Nita married the love her life, Jack Langenegger, who preceded her in death in 2005 after 60 wonderful years at Nita's side.

Nita led a very active and joyful life. She was the consummate wife, mother, and homemakerthose who knew her can attest to her marvelous cookingespecially her pies! Nita tirelessly served her family and others with unselfish dedication and love. She was a life-long active member of Eastern Star, Harmony Chapter 17, serving as Worthy Matron of that organization as well as serving as Rainbow Mom to the Rainbow Girls. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and served numerous friends and strangers alike through her work in her church. She was elected as a class parent for both Jack Wade's and Mary Ann's high school classes. She was named as a Life Member of the Texas Association of Hospital Auxiliaries for her many hours as a dedicated volunteer. She set a shining example for her grandchildren about the importance of pursuing dreams when she passed the GED in her mid-fifties, went to college, and graduated with honors at the age of 59 with an Associate of Arts Degree from Tyler Junior College. Her accomplishments and wonderful sense of humor were an inspiration to those who knew and loved her. She will be remembered as a wonderful and giving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, as well as being remembered as a devoted and loving friend. She brought her own unique blend of unconditional love and steadfast dedication to each of these roles. She was a generous soul who was a source of strength to her many friends and who never met a stranger. She was a strong woman who was a role model to her family.

Nita is survived by her children, Jack Wade Langenegger and his wife, Judy of Horseshoe Bay, Texas, and Mary Ann (Langenegger) Dunnavant and her husband, Herb of Plano, Texas; six grandchildren, Amy (Langenegger) Alba and her husband Ruben of Henderson, Colorado, Laurynn Evans Bugles and her husband Rob Bugles of Singapore, Wade Alan Langenegger of Sachse, Texas, William Jackson Hinde of Chicago, Illinois, C.R. Dunnavant and his wife Deidre of Orlando, Florida and Tim Dunnavant and his wife Susan of Orlando, Florida; six great grandchildren, Jaxon and Zander Alba, Nathan and Devon Dunnavant, and J.T. and Ava Lily Dunnavant; and numerous nieces and nephews.
