Mark Whitaker

Mark F. Whitaker was born on September 22, 1943 in Kansas City, Missouri to parents Jack and Cosette Whitaker. He loved the Kansas City Chiefs and KU basketball and was passionate about golf, sports and politics. He not only loved to play golf, but spent countless hours watching it on TV. Mark was also one to be up for a spirited debate over politics any time the subject came up. Mark's adventourous side was evident by his many travels abroad and his work in Belize.

Mark never met a stranger and always had a smile on his face. He loved the Lord, his church and singing in the church choir. He was blessed to be able to spend the last few years of his life with the "love of his life" ~ Deb. The true love they had for one another was evident every time they looked at one another.

Mark left this world much too soon on August 30, 2012 at the age of 68. In addition to his loving wife Deb, Mark is survived by his two sons who he loved and was very proud of; Camden Whitaker and his wife Heather and Cary Whitaker and his wife Christine, his grandchildren who brought great joy to Mark's life Emma, Clara and Asher Whitaker, his stepmother Ursula Whitaker, siblings Jack Whitaker, Lynn Phillips, Chris Whitaker, George Rosborough, Mary Gloss, Peggy Whitaker, James Whitaker and Elaine Daly. Mark was preceded in death by his brother Jerry Whitaker and his parents.

The family will receive friends at a visitation on Monday, September 3, 2012 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Allen Family Funeral Options. A Funeral Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated on Tuesday, September 4, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 5100 W. Plano Pkwy., Plano, Texas 75093 with The Reverend Tom Cloherty, Celebrant. Mark will be laid to rest following the service at Restland Memorial Park in Dallas.
