Helen Smith

Helen Smith of Plano, Texas went to be with her Lord and Saviour on Thursday, August 30, 2012 surrounded by her loving family. Her fond memory will forever live in the hearts of all that knew and loved her.

Helen was born in Houston, Texas on September 1, 1949 and was a graduate of Baylor University in 1971. She married Bill Smith on March 21, 1979 at Northway Baptist Church in Dallas, Texas.

Helen was a teacher who could look beyond the exterior and into a student's heart to uncover wonderful attributes and talents that they might not otherwise have recognized. Helen was a wonderful wife, mother and friend who exhibited the spirit of Christ in everything she did and everywhere she went. She will forever be remembered as a person who had a positive impact on the lives that she touched and will never be forgotten in the hearts and minds of all who were blessed to know her.

Helen is survived by her husband Bill Smith and her children Abigail Smith of Lubbock, Texas and Clark Smith of Houston, Texas. She is also survived by her sister Gay Banks and her husband Lynn of Leesburg, Texas, niece Charlotte McMillan and her husband Jason of Winnsboro, Texas, grand-niece and nephews Jake, Ty, and Kristen, her mother-in-law Opal Smith of New Braunfels, Texas, her brother-in-law Jerry Smith and his wife Sandra, nephew Scott Smith and niece Kaye Smith all of New Braunfels, Texas.


A funeral service celebrating Helen's life will be held at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, September 4, 2012 at Faith Chapel, Prestonwood Baptist Church, Plano, Texas. She will be laid to rest later that afternoon at Bethel Cemetery in Winnsboro, Texas

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Helen's memory to the Prestonwood Christian Academy, FPS Program, 6801 W. Park Blvd., Plano, TX. 75093
