Armand George Charron, 89, passed away Wednesday, August 29, 2012 in Plano, Texas. Armand was born June 5, 1923 in Ottawa, Canada to Adelard and Ann Charron. He was raised in Detroit, Michigan. Armand served in the US Army Air Corps, 94th Fighter Squadron, First Fighter Group during WWII. After the war he met Adelle Petkevich at a dance & fell instantly in love; she became his wife of over 50 years. Armand graduated with a degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Detroit and moved to Dallas in 1953. He worked at TI for several years & then moved into the Aerospace industry. During this time Armand added inventor to his accomplishment by developing a "Magna Disk. He proudly displayed his patent in his office. He relocated to Plano in 1969 and returned to the "family business" he so loved, Custom Home Building.
He retired at age 70. Armand was a member of the St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Community. He spent a life of service to his community and his church. Armand was a past President of the Plano Home Builders Association, volunteered with Plano Senior Citizens Center, a member of the International Order of the Alhambra, and a member of 3rd Degree and 4th Degree Knights of Columbus. He loved dancing and "Big Band" music and until recently was a regular participant at church and seniors dances.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Adelle in 2006. He is survived by his daughter, Jo Ann Charron of Dallas; son, Robert Charron and his wife, Jan of Flint, Texas; eight grandchildren, Luke Edmonson and his wife, Bethany of Richardson; Elayne Edmonson of Plano; Lauren Edmonson of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; Sara Bellini and her husband, Francesco of Rome, Italy; Michael Charron of Austin, Texas; Brian Charron of Fort Worth, Texas; Jayna Bartels and her husband, Tom of Houston, Texas; Jason Farrow and his wife, Mary Jane of Forney, Texas; and four great grandchildren; Tyler Edmonson, Bailey Farrow, Brett Farrow and Blake Farrow. A Rosary will be recited at 7 pm, Wednesday, September 5, 2012 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Plano.
The Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 10:30 am Thursday, September 6, 2012 also at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church. A reception will follow in the Parish Hall and burial will be at 1:30 pm at the Dallas-Ft. Worth National Cemetery, Dallas, Texas.
