Richard Keith Boyce

December 16, 1962 — September 23, 2009

We cry, not because he left us but because he touched us.

To his parents, Richard was a son. To Bryan, Richard was a brother. To many, Richard was a co-worker, to his bowling pals, he was a teammate and a competitor. But to all of us who know him and cared, Richard was also a friend.

It is hard to summarize a life of 46 years in a few paragraphs. Richard was born on December 16, 1962. He had an affinity for many things. He loved bowling, experiencing good food, and watching sports, especially talking about, arguing about, and watching sports with his dad. He appreciated the meticulous competition of fantasy sports of all kinds. His interest was always tweaked- and in turn, ours.

His life was filled with music. He had a passion for it- a passion that extended to every style, every artist, and every emotion. He shared this passion constantly- always showing us the new or the old., the fiery, the angry, or the tear-filled songs that made us feel something too.

The thing that filled his life most was exploring technology. He was adept at maintaining a grasp of the constant evolution, along with the exciting developments that are part of that community.

Throughout portions of his life Richard experienced a lot of health problems. Many years ago, he was diagnosed with pancreatitis and the doctor's prognosis was not good. We were told he would not live. Be he did live. Richard was never a "poor me" type of person. He never complained. He continued to live, to explore, to develop, to try, to taste, to evolve. And always amidst this, there was a kindness and a sweetness about Richard- and without fail, a willingness to help, help anyone he could. It is no wonder he inspired us to care so much. For all this we are frateful to him, and grateful for his life, his friendship, and is love.
