Sal Sessa

February 17, 1949 — July 22, 2012

Salvatore Anthony "Sal" Sessa was born on February 17, 1949 in New Haven, Connecticut to parents Anthony John and Pasqualina Carmela Sessa. He graduated from high school in New Britain, Connecticut and worked at a lodge for a summer in upper New York state. In late 1967, Sal attended Paier School of Art in Hamden, Connecticut and in 1968 he moved to San Francisco. Sal and a group of friends, including his brother Harold, went to Woodstock for 3 days of peace, love and music. He then began an 8 year adventure of traveling throughout the United States, Europe and the Middle East. He lived in Amsterdam for 6 months and also spent about 6 months in Afghanistan. In 1976 Sal decided to go back to school to work on his bachelor's degree at the University of North Texas in Denton. He began work on his Master's degree also at the University of North Texas in 1980 and it was on Valentine's Day 1982 that Sal met Beth McDaniel and the two were married on November 12, 1983. Over the years, Sal has photographed many celebrities including Elizabeth Taylor, George Foreman, James Earl Jones, Eric Clapton, George and Barbara Bush, Rick Perry, and Yogi Berra - just to name a few. Sal passed from this life into eternity on July 22, 2012 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by his wife Beth Sessa, daughter Audrey Sessa, father Anthony Sessa, brother Harold Sessa and his wife Sherry and numerous other loving family members. Sal was preceded in death by his mother Patsy Sessa. A memorial service will be held at 4:00 PM Thursday, July 26, 2012 at Christ Church Plano, 4550 Legacy Drive Plano, Texas 75024 with The Reverend Jeff Rawn officiating. The family requests in lieu of flowers donations be made to Faith Presbyterian Hospice 972-239-5300.
