Terri Self

Terri Self of Plano, Texas passed away Tuesday, May 29, 2012. She was born Terri Elyane Downs on March 21, 1958 in New Orleans, Louisiana. Terri graduated from Archbishop Chapelle High School in Metairie, Louisiana in 1976 and from Louisiana State University New Orleans in 1980, where she was a member of Zeta Tau Alpha sorority.
Terri and Wayne enjoyed 11 glorious years of marriage together. Terri was a generous and loving mother to all of her children, as well as her cats, Max and Cosmo and her dog, Greta. Terri loved vacationing at the beach and exploring her French and New Orleans heritage. She loved volunteering her time at the church and she was an avid gardener.
Terri is survived by her husband, Wayne Self; daughter Stephanie Gannaway and son-in-law David Gannaway of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; son Kevin Rex, daughter-in-law Molly Rex, and granddaughter-to-be of Richardson, Texas; son Michael Rex of Houston, Texas; step son Jason Self of Portland, Oregon; step daughter Jessica Self of Lubbock, Texas; sister Mary France Spies and brother-in-law Richard Spies of The Woodlands, Texas; and nephew Rick Spies of Evergreen, Colorado. She was preceded in death by her father Dell Downs and mother Elaine Maria Denis Downs of Saint Quentin, France.
A memorial service to honor Terri's life will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 2, 2012 at Christ United Methodist Church, 3101 Coit Rd., Plano, Texas 75075. The family requests memorials in Terri's name be made to the Sjogrens Syndrome Organization, www.sjogrens.org or to the Fibromyalgia Research Fund, www.nfra.net
