James Clifford Smith, age 89, passed away on Friday April 20, 2012 in Plano, Texas. He was born on September 9, 1922 in Columbus, Ohio to parents Stella (Wilson) and Lenza Smith. Jim attended North High School before enlisting in the United States Army. During WWII, he served in Europe as part of the Engineering Corps including working on Dwight Eisenhower's headquarters in Bushy Park, England. Following his return to the states, Jim married Clara Wyss Smith with whom he spent 54 wonderful years before she passed away in 2001.
Jim worked for Sperry Univac in the Customer Engineering department.
During his time with Sperry Univac, Jim managed the customer service team for Miami, Florida before transferring to Cincinnati, Ohio.
Jim was an avid card player who enjoyed playing Euchre or Bridge nearly all night. In later years, he was able to enjoy his computer copying discs and sharing interesting websites. He was a sharing man who was always looking for a way to help others.
Jim is survived by his son Robert Smith, his daughter-in-law Lisa Gear-Smith and his granddaughter Nicole Smith all of Frisco, Texas.
We will all truly miss him.
