Susan Bailey

February 9, 1952 — January 28, 2011

The Essance of Susan G. Bailey: a phenomenal lady, friend, mother, and wife. Written by her loving husband: William F. "Skip" Bailey

Susan managed to cram sixty seconds of living into each minute of her life better than anyone I ever knew. She was habitually late then blamed it on traffic lights. She loved to watch crime shows like Law & Order, Criminal Minds, Body of Evidence, and Bones. She adored Colin Firth, Josh Groban, and her four pomeranians. Susan would be very pleased for them to be mentioned by name in this script, the four babies are Toby, Tonia, Tara, and Tanner.

Anytime you would mention the Grand Princess her eyes would widen; she loved the cruising and the sea. I have been feeding a stray cat for about a month now, but could never catch it. In our last conversation she wanted to make sure I had fed the kitty. She had a heart as big as Texas and more valuable than gold. Susan never knew a stranger. In a few moments she would have a wait-person's complete biography. Speaking of wait-persons, she was fond of lengthy orders with lots of questions, suggestions, and customizations. Somehow her order was always the best one... She loved road trips. Her philosophy was we get there when we get there; getting there was half the fun. No one enjoyed shoe shopping more than Susan, with perhaps the exception of our daughters, Darcy and Bonnie. She was quickly teaching our granddaughter, Olivia, to be a shoe connoisseur as well. She was always meticulous in her appearance, and that extended to her scent...her fragrance filled the elevator where we met and I will forever associate Giorgio's Red with Susan and our love. I really had her fooled: for twenty years Susan thought I hung the moon.

In addition to her adoring husband William, Susan is also survived by her daughters Bonnie J. Parkman and her husband Nathan, Darcy R. Brignac and her husband Jeff, grandchildren, Dustin, Camrie, Daran and Taegan Parkman, Olivia Brignac and one little one on the way.

A visitation will be held Monday, January 31, 2011 from 6-8p.m. at Allen Family Funeral Options. A funeral service to celebrate Susan's life will be held Tuesday, February 1, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Abundant Life Church, 2301 Premier Dr., Plano, Texas 75075. Susan will be laid to rest following the service at Restland Memorial Park, Dallas, Texas.
