Robbie was born on January 22, 1969 in Fort Wayne, Indiana to parents William and Pamela Robertson. He completed his journey on earth and met his Heavenly Father on March 14, 2012. Robbie is survived by his children, the loves of his life, Riley Campbell and Margaret Susan (Maggie), parents Bill and Pam, brothers Corky and his wife Chris, Tim and his wife Rita, Terry and his wife Traci, the mother of his children, former wife and beloved friend, Danielle Robertson, nieces and nephews Ryan and his wife Abby, Brandon and his wife Megan, Morgan, Brady and Logan Robertson and a host of loving baseball family who knew and loved him well and will remember him always. Robbie's motto in life was "if I die tomorrow, no one can say I didn't have a good time". Anyone who knew Robbie knew this to be true. He was a larger than life figure who loved to be the center of attention. Even if you were mad at the world, he could make you smile. Robbie grew up learning to play baseball from his three brothers and carried his passion for baseball throughout his entire life. Robbie's family moved to Richardson, Texas in the mid 80's and he graduated from Berkner High School. Following graduation Robbie went to The University of Texas and played on the UT baseball team for a year. He subsequently moved to Denton and enrolled in The University of North Texas. It was there Robbie would end up meeting the love of his life, Danielle as well as numerous life long friends of whom he kept in close contact with. He was widely known as a wonderful father to his children, instilling in them a wonderful sense of determination, pride and a trust and belief in God. He was their mentor. He was their hero. He was also lovingly referred to as "Uncle Robbie" by children of his friends including Renee and Devin Smith and Ethan and Colton Power, whom he dearly loved and considered his own. Robbie was also a mentor and coach to hundreds of other children. He loved the game of baseball but loved teaching the game to children even more. Robbie has spent the past several years immersing himself into the North Texas Youth Baseball and Softball community coaching numerous teams officially and several more "unofficially". He spent the past couple of years coaching teams in the McKinney Mongrel Organization prior to recently joining the Frozen Ropes. Baseball brought Robbie many life long friends and expanded his reach in the community. He took tremendous pride in his involvement with the Strikes Against Cancer Organization. Ultimately he became the face of the organization during it's annual tournament in May. Robbie felt as if his work with Strikes Against Cancer was the best job he'd ever done and he truly brought passion to the fund raising effort. Numerous baseball and softball clubs throughout North Texas have felt the loss from Robbie's passing and have already began work towards honoring his legacy. Robbie's coach's jersey will be retired in the rafters of the Buffalo Wild Wings in McKinney, Texas in May and he will be remembered at the Frisco Rough Riders baseball game on June 16th, 2012. The Dallas Morning News is planning to publish a story about him in the March 23rd 2012 edition. Robbie's huge impact on the lives of so many will never be forgotten. The family will receive friends for visitation from 10-11:30 AM, Saturday, March 17, 2012 at Woodcreek Church, 3400 E Renner Rd., Richardson, Texas 75082. The service will begin at 12:00 noon. Following the service Robbie will be laid to rest at Ridgeview Cemetery in Allen, Texas. There will be a basket at the church for anyone who would like to leave a personal letter written to Riley and Maggie with your feelings about Coach Robbie and what made him special to you. We encourage everyone to speak up & let these wonderful children know how Robbie had an impact in your life, or your child's life. If you feel you do not have time to properly express your feelings you can also mail them to Eric Power, 3104 Robert Dr., Richardson, TX 75082. Eric will coordinate with Danielle to deliver all of the letters. College savings accounts have also been created in the names of Riley and Maggie Robertson. For anyone who would like to contribute to these funds in lieu of flowers, there will be a basket at the church on Saturday. Please make out all checks to Riley Robertson. These can also be mailed to Riley Robertson, C/O Eric Power, 3104 Robert Dr., Richardson, TX 75082. Since baseball was such a significant and important part of Robbie's life, the family requests any coach, player, team mom, or baseball fan attending to wear their respective teams' jersey and hat. Please feel free to wear what you feel is appropriate, there's no wrong way to do it. The family has also asked that any baseball organization that would like to be represented may submit one hat to be put into the casket so Coach Robbie will be surrounded by those teams for eternity. Additionally, any organization who would like to bring a signed baseball to be put into the casket please feel free. We all know Coach Robbie was always looking for good baseballs!
