Thelma Ann Thompson, age 76 of Plano, TX passed away on Friday, November 25th in Richardson. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
Born Thelma Ann Woodbridge on February 14, 1935 in Scranton, Pennsylvania to William and Thelma Woodbridge, she grew up in Scranton and graduated from West Side Scranton High School in 1953. Not long after graduating, Thelma met Samuel L. Thompson by chance through a mutual friend and it was instant love. The two were married on September 17, 1955. They settled in Alexandria, Virginia and began a family, raising 3 beautiful children, Kathleen, Linda and Paul. Thelma was a skilled seamstress and worked for many years making ladies garments and draperies. She loved crochet and taught her daughters and grand-daughter crochet and sewing. She also enjoyed cooking for her family and in turn, for her grandchildren too. Her Thanksgiving and Christmas diners were a real treat!
Thelma is survived by her husband Samuel Thompson, daughter Linda Pherigo and son Paul Thompson and wife Micki, brothers Edward and wife Carol, and Jackie, grandchildren Wayne Cronan, Pam Arroyo, Wesley Minor, Andrew Minor, Cameron Minor, Brandon Thompson and Jake Thompson, great-grandchildren Ryan Jeanes, Ethan Cronan, Adrian Arroyo, and Sophia Arroyo.
All our love to you always and forever, we will miss you dearly.
She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, sisters, Lillian Schindler, and Marion Michaels, brothers, William, Robert, Paul, Donald, and Joseph, and daughter Kathleen Thompson.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, December 1, 2011 in The Gathering Room at Allen Family Funeral Options.
