Russell Wilson Gilmore, son of Wilson Arnie Gilmore and Elberta Peach Gilmore, was born on March 16, 1949 and passed away September 12, 2011. Russell, known as "Rusty", the son of a long time basketball coach and teacher spent his youth playing any sport he could find a game. He was a great high school football and basketball player where he played for Lampasas High School.
Upon graduating from Lampasas High School, Rusty enlisted in the US Army, and represented the United States during the Vietnam War. After the army Rusty, and his ex wife, Patricia Gilmore, had their only son Chaz Gilmore on April 1, 1980. Rusty and Patricia raised their son in Orlando, FL until 1990.
In the years since 1990, Rusty spent his time with his family and wife, Kathy Best. Kathy and Rusty lived in Plano, where they raised Rusty's son, Chaz Gilmore and stepson Jason Best. Rusty, a huge sports fan, was an avid fan of the Dallas Cowboys, Texas Rangers, and the University of Texas football team. Rusty enjoyed spending his time watching his teams, fishing, and relaxing on his ranch in Lampasas, TX.
In August of last year, Rusty was given a grandson, Colton Pierce Gilmore. Truly a blessing in his life, he spent his final year in great pride, with love for his son Chaz, daughter in law, Steffanie, and grandson Colton.
Rusty is survived by his son, Chaz Gilmore, wife Steffanie and grandson Colton of Frisco. Sister Lynda Daniel and husband David of Houston.
Rusty was loved my many and will be missed by all. Rusty, a truly loving man, has many friends and family members who will love and miss him. We will always hold on to our memories and stories of Rusty.
God Bless
