Rufus (Bob) Frost of Carrollton, Texas, went home to be with the Lord on May 20, 2011. He enjoyed a full and blessed life for 87 years. He was born February 21, 1924 in Munday, Texas.
Bob received his undergraduate degree from North Texas State University and his Master's degree from Stanford University. He had 27 years of military service in the U.S. Air Force and participated in both World War II and the Korean War, where he flew 51 combat missions. He retired with the rank of Lt. Colonel in 1970.
He is survived by his wife Joan and daughters, Sherry Barber of Houston, Texas and Tina Burgess of Austin, Texas, Deb Graham of Frisco, Elaine Troupe of Frisco, brother Floyd Frost of Hurst, Texas, sisters Thelma Potter of Haysville, Kansas, and Gwen Manfredi and Edith Rippy of Hurst, Texas. Other immediate family members include eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren as well as many other friends and family members who loved him and will dearly miss him.
Bob was a member of Prestonwood Baptist Church of Plano, Texas and his joy was to serve as head of the Military Committee and minister as a deacon.
A memorial service celebrating his life will be Monday, May 23, 2011 at 11:30 a.m. in the Chapel at Prestonwood Baptist Church. Bob will be laid to rest at the Dallas-Fort National Cemetery.
At the request of the family, contributions may be made in Bob's name to the Prestonwood Dallas Campus renovation project.
