Robert Decrosta Sr

Robert G. DeCrosta, Sr. "The Rock" was born on December 10, 1933 and passed quickly and peacefully at 5:12 p.m. on September 26, 2011. He attended Hudson High School in Hudson, New York where he excelled in all sports, but especially in football. He was a Naval veteran who played scholarship football at Louisiana State University and then went on to a very successful career as a football coach.

The Catholic Diocese recruited him to start a new school athletic program for Bishop Dunne, a new school at that time in Dallas, Texas where he coached football, baseball, basketball and track as well as taught math and history. His football career spanned decades as he went on to coach at Bishop Lynch High School and at Rice University.

Mr. DeCrosta was preceded in death by family members Mary Nicholson, Louis DeCrosta, Virginia Gardner, Jeanette DeRose and Ann Marie Alger. He is survived by his children Julie Palmacci, Robert "Bubba" DeCrosta, David DeCrosta and Traci Gholson, grandchildren Ashlie DeCrosta, Alexx DeCrosta, David DeCrosta, Anthony DeCrosta, Erika Palmacci, Alyssa Palmacci, Nick Palmacci and Hunter Gholson and great grandchildren Christian Nicholas DeCrosta and Hailey Kay DeCrosta.

A public funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 4, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Michael Catholic Church, 1801 Sage Rd., Houston, Texas 77056
