Palma Mistretta

Palma Frustaci Mistretta, formerly of Brooklyn, New York, residing in Plano, Texas died September 20, 2011. She was 93 years old.



She was born on May 3, 1918 in Warwick, New York to Carmella Demare and Joseph Frustaci.



At the age of 3 her mother died, so she, with her two sisters traveled to San Giovanni, Italy where she was raised by her grandmother. She returned to New York in 1937 and began her career as a seamstress while also caring for her father and two brothers.



She was widow to Joseph Mistretta and was also predeceased by her sisters Rose, Mary, Carmella, and her brothers Nicholas and Sebastian.



She is survived by her children Beatrice Giordano and her husband Vincent of Henderson, Nevada and Joe Mistretta and his wife Maggie of Plano, Texas, four grandchildren Jacqueline Boyle and her husband John, Marc Giordano and his wife Felecia, Ashley Engebretson and her husband Tyler, and Phillip Mistretta.

She is also survived by six great-grandchildren as well as adoring nieces and nephews.



She was a loving, caring and compassionate person. Family was the most important ingredient of her life and she kept in communication with many relatives and friends even from afar. She was a fantastic cook and you could never visit her home without enjoying a great Italian meal. Food was one of the ways she expressed her love and affection.



A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, September 23, 2011 at 10:30 AM at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 2700 W. Spring Creek Parkway, Plano, Texas 75023 with The Reverend Monsignor Henry V. Petter, celebrant. Burial will be in St Columba R.C. Church Cemetery, Chester, New York.
