Oswald Paxton

Oswald "Ossie " Paxton, 87 of Plano, Texas passed away on July 27, 2011 surrounded by family.

Ossie was born on October 3, 1923 to Estelle Parker Paxton and Joe Stokes Paxton. In 1941, Ossie was awarded a Carnegie medal for saving the lives of a mother and her two children. He graduated from Elkhart High School where he was a member of the school's football team. After graduation he joined the U.S. Navy in which he served in World War II from 1942 - 1945. Ossie married his high school sweetheart, Mary Frances Knox, on March 14, 1945. They enjoyeed sixty-six years together.

After serving in the military, Ossie was employed by Atlantic Refining Company which later became ARCO. He retired from ARCO after 40 years of dedicated service.

Ossie is survived by his wife, Mary Paxton of Plano, Texas, his daughter Patricia Gail Plunkett, his son James Mitchell Paxton, four grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and his sister Annette Lacey.

A visitation will be held Friday July 29, 2011 from 6:00 - 8:00 PM at Allen Family Funeral Options, 2120 W. Spring Creek Pkwy, Plano, TX. 75023. Funeral services will be held on Saturday July 30, 2011 at 10:00 AM at First United Methodist Church of Plano, 3160 East Spring Creek Parkway Plano, TX 75074. The burial service will be held at The Garden of Memories Cemetery in Elkhart, Texas on Sunday July 31, 2011 at 2:00 PM.
