Laquintha A Kent

Laquintha Ann Kent, age 74 loving sister, mother and grandmother, went to be with our Lord in heaven on Monday October 31, 2011 following a courageous 3 year battle with cancer.

She was born September 1, 1937 in Kaufman, Texas to W.A. and Jaunita Heflin. Laquintha graduated from Sudan High School in 1955. She married James Mack Smith in December of 1956 in Odessa, Texas. A loving housewife and mother of 3, his death preceded her. After raising her children she returned to complete her education and graduated from Eastern New Mexico University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Business. During this time Laquintha married William Kent in 1987 and moved to Clovis, NM. After Bill's death in 1991 she returned to Texas and obtained her Texas Board of Realtors License in Waco, Texas. She was employed by Kelly Realtors for several years before moving to Plano to be closer to her family. At the time of her illness she was an Expense Processor for Old Republic Mortgage. A strong woman of faith Laquintha was a member of the Christ United Methodist Church in Plano. She loved playing the piano and had the voice of an angel.

Laquintha is survived by her sister Saundra Martin (Gigi), son James Mack Smith, Jr., grandchildren David Mack Smith and Cari Dawn Smith, son John David Smith, grandchild Lily Ann Smith, daughter Sherri Kathryn Smith, niece Alicia Aussem and her two daughters Lexi Aussem and Taryn Aussem.

A memorial service for Laquintha will be held at Christ United Methodist Church in Plano (3031 Coit Rd Plano, TX) on Saturday November 5, 2011 at 10:00 AM.
