Born March 9, 1940 to Kermit W. Cook and Chalna Cook in Hartford, Kentucky. Passed away June 27 in her home in Sachse, Texas.
She is survived by Bob, her husband of 54 years. In addition she is survived by her 3 children. Son Todd Edwards and his wife Debbie, daughter Cathryn Jimenez and her husband Ruben, and Cindy Oertle and her husband Gary. Two brothers Sonny and Doug Cook of Beaver Dam, Kentucky. 13 Grandchildren and 4 Great Grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Sue and Bob made their home in Louisville, Kentucky after marrying in July 1956. Sue kept her promise to her dad by going to night school and got her High School diploma, while Bob worked at General Electric and built residential homes.
In 1969 they purchased a cosmetic distributorship and built a retail organization selling mink oil cosmetics. Sue and Bob worked as a successful team and were promoted to area directors in Louisiana and Florida, then promoted to Dallas as Regional Vice Presidents. Sue was in charge of training sales personnel. After 2 years they left the company. Sue graduated from Brookhaven College with an associates degree in Child Development. She was a day care director for Webb Chapel Baptist Church in Farmers Branch for several years. This would lead to her and Bob buying the Allen Child Development Center where she was in charge of operations. When they decided to sell the day care center she went to work with ESS Business School as their Student Housing Director. She also worked with Bob in inspections on foreclosed properties and helped with management of rental properties which they own.
Sue was active in church and was mission minded. She was a volunteer at Buckner International Shoes for Orphan Souls. She went on mission trips to Guatemala and enjoyed teaching and putting shoes on orphans.
A visitation will be held from 6:00 - 8:00 PM on Tuesday July 5, 2011 at 1st Baptist Church Wylie, 100 N. 1st Street, Wylie, TX. 75098. A memorial service will be held at 1:30 PM Wednesday July 6, 2011 at 1st Baptist Church Wylie as well.
