James Patrick Burke

James Patrick Burke was born March 27, 1939 in Amsterdam, New York to the parents of Lawlor Joseph Burke and Margaret Helen Collins (Burke). Jim enjoyed a happy childhood making an annual summer trip to Cape Cod, Massachusetts.

Jim went to Saint Mary's Catholic School as a boy and later attained his Bachelor's degree from LeMoyne College. While attending LeMoyne College, Jim met his lifelong love Suzanne O'Connor at Mitchels Bar in Syracuse, New York. Jim and Sue married on May 4, 1963. They had four children Sheila Collins Burke, Patrick Timothy Burke, James Lawlor Burke and Sean Michael Burke.

Jim was a devoted father and husband. He was truly happy caring for and providing for his family. Throughout his life he continually supported all his children as needed; either financially or emotionally. To the end of his life his family and church was the only focus in his life. There were no golf trips or exotic vacations. It was always about how he could best provide for his children. In spite of all the hard work he did for his family, he always maintained the upmost of jovial attitudes. His joy was perpetually contagious, a fact anybody in his endless circle of family, friends, and congregation will attest to.

The family will receive friends at a visitation and viewing from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 16, 2011 at Allen Family Funeral Options, 2120 W. Spring Creek Pkwy., Plano, Texas 75023. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, November 17, 2011 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 8000 El Dorado Drive, Frisco, TX. 75034.
