Roland Borden

November 3, 1938 — March 6, 2010

Roland Claude Borden was born on November 3, 1938 in Houston, Texas to Ruth and Claude Borden. His family moved to Missouri City, Texas in 1947 and it was there where he attended school and graduated from Missouri City High School in 1956. During his high school years, Roland was a member of the Robert E. Lee Chapter of the Houston Order of DeMolay. Roland was a 1961 graduate of the University of Texas in Austin ("Hook 'em Horns") earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mathematics. He served in the United States Army Reserve and was employed by IBM in 1962. Roland married the love of his life Linda McDonald on April 3,1969 and they enjoyed 40 wonderful years together. He was a 32nd Degree Master Mason in the Sugarland Masonic Lodge. Roland also volunteered his time with The Boy Scouts of America serving as Assistant Scout Master of Troop 895 and helped his son Mike obtain the rank of Eagle Scout in 1974.

Roland was called home by his Lord and Savior and given a perfect body on Saturday, March 6, 2010. He will be remembered by all who knew him for his generosity and willingness to help others and for being one of the best to stay in touch with his friends and relatives.

Surviving are Roland's loving wife Linda of Dallas, sons Chris Borden of Plano, Mike Borden and his wife Joy of Denver, grandchildren Stefanie and Ryan Borden of Denver, sister Shirley Renfrow and husband Al of Missouri City, sister in law Gayle Casey and her husband Mike of Houston, nephew Greg Hopper of Houston and many beloved cousins and other extended family.

The family will greet friends at an Evening of Remembrance on Wednesday, March 10, 2010 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Allen Family Funeral Options. A memorial service will follow on Thursday, March 11, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at Christ Church Plano, 4550 Legacy Dr., Plano, Texas 75024 with The Reverend Jeff Rawn and The Reverend Andy Bracken officiating. A reception will immediately follow the service in the fellowship hall.
