Barbara Jean Eichler

August 5, 1944 — June 19, 2011

Barbara Jean Eichler was born in Columbus, Ohio on August 5, 1944 to parents Henry and Rose Dixon. She attended high school at St. Mary's and college at Ohio State University in Columbus.

On March 7, 1980 Barbara married Roger Eichler in Mansfield, Ohio. She was a dedicated wife and mother who sacrificed greatly for the benefit of her family. She gladly worked two jobs to help put her children through Catholic School and college. The majority of her professional life was spent in the medical field, most recently as an office manager for a gynecologist. Barbara taught by example the importance of unconditional love, forgiveness, faith and charity. She always took a sincere interest in her family's lives and was always supportive of their endeavors. Her grandchildren experienced the depth of her love first-hand. She would often lay on the floor to color and play with them. She realized that by getting down to their level, all other distractions naturally faded and she could give them her undivided attention.

Barbara loved her church and was an active member at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Plano, working as an extraordinary minister and in RCIA.

Barbara passed from this life on Sunday, June 19, 2011. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Henry L. Dixon. She is survived by her husband Roger Eichler, children Charles Rich and wife Andrea, Selene Rich, Sonja Rich, Josh Eichler, and Kirk Eichler, grandchildren Caitlyn Rich, Stephen Rich, Tyler Rich, Carlos Rich, Amanda Rich, Michael Rich and Jasmine Eichler, siblings Rose Marie Preston, Anna Louise Vogel and Darleen Chambers.

A Prayer Vigil will be held on Thursday, June 23, 2011 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 2700 W. Spring Creek Pkwy., Plano, Texas 75023 at 7:00 p.m.

The Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, June 24, 2011 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church with The Reverend Monsignor Henry V. Petter as celebrant.

Interment will follow at 12:30 p.m. at Dallas-Ft. Worth National Cemetery.
