For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. - John 3:16
Anna Elizabeth Kyle was born on October 24, 1915 in rural Fannin County, Texas to parents Kidd and Myrtle Foster. Anna was the oldest of six children and at an early age, she helped her mother with her five younger brothers. A favorite story of hers was when she was eight years old; she made all the Thanksgiving pies because her mother was too ill. Obviously her love of cooking and special gift of caring for others was developed at a very young age.
In 1935, Anna met and married the love of her life Delma Kyle. The two settled in Paris, Texas and had their first child, daughter Dortha Ann. When Delma volunteered for the navy in World War II, Anna kept the home fires burning and waited for one of his many letters, all of which she kept. After the war, Delma returned to his job with the border patrol. They lived in many locations including Kingsville, Lubbock, Brownsville and Uvalde where their second child, Donald was born.
Following Delma's death in 1987, Anna moved to Plano, Texas to be near her children and grandchildren. Family was always the most important thing in Anna's life and she expressed this by helping take care of her grandchildren and was even blessed to care for her great-granddaughter. She continued her love of cooking up until the point when she no longer could run the kitchen. Even then, she always offered to make you something to eat - an offer she made to everyone she met.
Anna passed away August 15, 2011 in Plano, Texas at the wonderful age of 95. She is preceded in death by her parents, five brothers, husband Delma, and daughter Dortha Ann. She is survived by her son Donald Kyle and his wife April, her granddaughters Nancy Ferrell, Sue Baldor and her husband Kevin, Angela Yates and her husband Phillip, grandson Jeffrey Kyle, and great-granddaughter Kaitlyn Kyle.
