Alphonse Gabe' Gabriel Favre III was born in Bay St. Louis, Mississippi on September 16, 1946. He graduated from Howard County High School in Ellicott City, Maryland before moving back to Bay St. Louis to graduate from Pearl River College in 1967. Gabe worked as a Civil Engineer for 13 years in Jackson, Mississippi before moving to Texas in October 1980, where he worked for Ginn Incorporated and HNTB.
On top of spending time with his family; camping, fishing and hunting were Gabe's interests. He served the community for 25 years as a dedicated Scout Master in the Boy Scouts of America. As a Scout Master, Mr. Favre encouraged and educated many young men, imparting crucial life skills while providing a consistent example of strong character. Among the dozens of young men he proudly guided down the path to become Eagle Scouts were Gabe's three sons Josh, Jason, and Jacob.
Gabe is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 44 years, Elaine; mother Lydia and siblings Donald, Laurin Ann, Adele (preceded in death) and Keith; five children - Stephanie, Josh, Jason, Jacob and Michelle Favre; and twelve grandchildren - Darac, Elyssa, Tyler, Hope, Zoey, Mary Grace, Maggie, Michael, Miranda, Samson, Dylan and Madison.
The family will receive friends for visitation Monday, September 5, 2011 from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. at Allen Family Funeral Options. A mass of the resurrection will be held Tuesday, September 6, 2011 at 5:30 p.m. at St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church, 1201 Alma Dr., Plano, Texas 75074.
