James Kossack

October 5, 1969 — March 6, 2012

James (Jim) Denman Kossack was born October 5, 1969 in Bethesda, Maryland to parents Charles and Judith Kossack. He grew up with his sisters and his mother and was always the protector. Jim realized his life's calling was to protect and to serve, so he joined the police academy and became a police officer for the Dallas Police Department and the Lavon Police Department. Ultimately, circumstances beyond his control forced his career in law enforcement to end sooner than he would have preferred as he developed health issues and underwent extensive shoulder surgeries.
Jim loved the outdoors from as far back as a young child. His idea of fun was hunting, boating, fishing, paintball target practice, motorcycles and just about anything he could do accompanied by his friends. Scuba diving was a true passion for Jim. He planned to teach his nephew the sport and hoped to instil a love for it in him as well. He loved photography and sitting at the BBQ. Unfortunately, the increasing medical issues impeded his ability to pursue the things that brought him joy in life. Jim truly loved his family and friends and would have done anything for them even if he didn't have the time or money to do so. He loved his momma dearly, loved his pets and the true love of his life was his daughter Kathrine. Jim may have had a tough exterior, but inside he was a real softie. He will also be remembered for his punctuality and the requirement he placed on everyone else to be punctual as well.
Jim's work on this earth was complete on March 6, 2012. He is survived by his mother Judy Kossack of Plano and his father Chuck Kossack of Colorado, daughters Katherine Salmon Clark and her husband Ben and Erica Rane, sisters Shelley Tennant and her husband Richard, Marile Hendrickson and her husband Eric, half-sister Nina Kossack, nieces Brittany Bishop, Brooke Tennant, Addison Tennant, Laurel Tennant, Ariel Hendrickson, Elise Hendrickson and Jessica Hendrickson. A celebration of James life will be held Saturday, March 10, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at Allen Family Funeral Options. A reception will follow.
