Shirley Ann Young Hilster, Frisco, TX. Wonderful friend, caring sister, attentive aunt, sacrificial mother, devoted grandmother, and loving wife passed away peacefully on October 11 th 2020 surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Lancaster, PA, Shirley attended high school in Manheim, PA, where she graduated with the class of 1950. Shirley was an outstanding athlete, playing competitive field hockey and track all throughout high school. This spirit of competitiveness followed Shirley into her adult years as she was very active in participating in many archery tournaments in the New England States.
Shirley was the exemplary example of what a mother and grandmother stands for! The unconditional love, care, and sacrifice that she displayed her entire life has left a legacy that will continue to flow into the lives of her daughters, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
What brought Shirley joy was always thinking and doing for others. One of her favorite things to do around the holidays was to make and deliver cookies to the staff of her doctors, dentists, and clinics. Shirley always made it a point to compliment people she came across and giving recognition to those who were caring.
Shirley’s loyalty to her family and friends was so evident. She was always seen at her grandson’s sporting events and was their biggest fan cheering them on from the stands. Shirley’s compassion drew people of all ages into her life. She was known by all as “Grammy”.
