Sarmistha Sen

Sarmistha Sen was born January 2nd, 1977 in Sindri, India to parents Dinabandhu Sen and Chinmoyee Sen.

Sarmistha grew up in Sindri and later moved to Bangalore, India for higher studies and work and eventually moved to Plano Texas. She studied in UT Dallas and University of Birmingham, Alabama and worked on cancer research for most of her career. She was settled in Plano with her husband of 16 years, Arindam and sons Neil and Ryan; and she devoted her life to their comfort, health and happiness. She passed away on August 1st, 2020.

Sarmistha lived free and fearless inspiring many with her infectious energy and carefree smile. Sarmistha was an avid runner, gardener and a great cook. She practiced healthy mindful living and she could cook extremely healthy food that tasted amazingly good. She was a trained singer of Indian classical music and loved to teach and perform music. She was passionate about cancer care and was a lifelong supporter of cancer research.

Sarmistha is survived by her husband, Arindam Roy; son, Neil Roy and Ryan Roy; mother, Chinmoyee Sen; father Dinabandhu Sen; brother, Sumit Sen; sister in law, Tina Duran-Sen; nephew Vijay Raj Sen; father in law, Biswanath Roy; mother in law, Kalpana Roy; brother in law, Biplab Roy; sister in law, Madhuchanda Roy; nephew, Sagnik Roy.

There will be a public visitation Saturday, August 8, 2020 from 1:00-4:00 p.m. at Allen Family Funeral Options. There will be a private Celebration of Life for her family.  The family has asked that in honor of Sarmistha; please don't wear black; bright colors are requested and her favorite colors were White, Red, Light Green and Saffron.
