Rae Jean Morgan Denny

September 6, 1953 — July 9, 2020

Rae Jean Morgan-Denny, 66, of Plano, Texas was called home to be in the presence of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, July 9, 2020.

She was born on September 6, 1953 to Homer Ray and La Frances June (Larremore) Morgan in Ft. Worth, Texas.

Rae Jean received her Nursing Degree from El Centro College, a career in which she would quickly excel.  She was respected and admired by colleagues and friends and as an exceptional nurse, it was clear she was doing a job she was born to do.  She was the most unselfish person, always willing to help anyone in need, and was her best self during her 30+ year career as a Registered Nurse.  Just before retiring, she advocated heavily for the elderly that led her to begin investigating nursing homes for the state of Texas.  Stories of her investigations would later make national news and be featured on ABC’s 20/20.  Several years later, Rae Jean retired as a hospice nurse to spend more time with her beloved husband which enabled them to travel all over the world together every chance they could.

When Rae Jean was home, she cared for her mother, June and her grandkids.  On November 30, 2018 she earned a new title as great grandma to her first great-granddaughter, sweet Paisleigh Melinda Fite.   She would talk about her grandchildren to anyone that would listen, made them laugh and was close to each of them until she took her last breath.  She loved them dearly and they all loved her equally as much. She enjoyed scrapbooking, making jewelry, and facetiming her children and grandchildren.  As in 1 John 1:4 “... that your joy may be full,” her joy was abundant for her family and all of those around her.  She was ceaseless in caring for others.... her husband, children, relatives, and friends near and far. She will be greatly missed by so many.

Rae Jean is predeceased by her father, Homer Ray Morgan and brother Roger Morgan.

Those left to cherish her memories are her loving husband of 20 years, Brian C. Denny, of the home;  son and daughter-in-law, John Travis and Marci Stanley of Plano, Texas;  daughter and son-in-law, Joe and Jennifer Lynn Davis of Plano, Texas;  son and daughter-in-law, James and Dee Denny of Fairborn, Ohio; son-in-law, Christopher Denny of Sumter, South Carolina; daughter and son-in-law, David and Katharina Smith of Pineville, North Carolina; nine incredible grandchildren whom she loved and adored, Shelby Nichole Stanley, Meagan McKenzie Stanley, Hannah Renea Stanley, Delaney Rae Davis, Dylan Davis, Nyla Denny, Kiefer Smith, Taylor Straughan, and Hannah Straughan; one adorable great granddaughter, Paisleigh Melinda Fite; mother, La Frances June Morgan; brother Gary Morgan; numerous nieces and nephews and other loving extended family and friends.

Family and friends will gather to celebrate and share memories of Rae Jean’s life on Thursday, July 16, 2020 at Allen Family Funeral Options in Plano, Texas from 11:00 a.m. to 12:45 p.m.  A private burial service will be held at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery at 2:00 p.m.  If desired, donations can be made to the American Nurses Foundation, https://www.nursingworld.org/foundation/donate/
