Sean Harris

October 25, 1981 — July 15, 2014

Sean Franklin Harris was born October 25, 1981 in El Paso, Texas to Debra and Freddie Harris. He was the second of three children. He accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Community Baptist Church, where he sang in the choir and participated in church programs.

Sean was a hard worker from the time he was 14 and as a kid he had a phobia of his shoes being too tight.
Sean attended Ysleta ISD schools and graduated from Hanks High School in 2000. Throughout his childhood, Sean was very active in sports and developed his love of basketball, and was very proud member of the Hank's High school basketball team, which advanced to the Elite Eight. He was also a member of Kappa Guide Right.

Sean attended Stephen F. Austin State University where he graduated with a Degree in Marketing in 2005. He played intramural basketball while in school. Following his graduation, he was immediately recruited and "hired on the spot" by the Mattress Firm.

Sean and Ashley met on the first day of college, and he helped her move into the dorms. They became the best of friends and quickly fell in love, and eventually moved into one another's heart forever. Sean proposed on January 1, 2007, and they were married December 31, 2007 at the Old Red Court House in downtown Dallas. That day was always special because how you start the year is how you end it. Sean called Ashley "Splash" and he was her "Babe".

Their daughter, Langston "Lani" was born on January 13, 2010. He called her his "toom-time bears" (not a mis-spelling, just typical Sean made up words). He loved to teach her to wrestle, build the "best forts", play soccer and how to cooks eggs. Sean always played "Where's Lani" every single night, when he came home from work, even though she always hid in bed under the covers. Most of all he loved their Friday Daddy-Lani dates to Dave & Busters or Lifetime Fitness to go swimming.

Sean's hobbies included playing pranks on people, playing basketball, swimming and going to the lake. He joined God's angels Tuesday July 15th, 2014.

He is survived by his wife Ashley Harris, daughter Lani Harris, mother Debra Harris, sister Joi Woodard and her husband Calvin, brother Brian Harris, niece and nephew Kendyll and Bryce Woodard, father in law and mother in law Carlos and Renita Cummings, brothers and sisters in law Carlos and Traci Cummings, Cylinda and Alfred Gamble, Tanya Lee, additional "chosen brothers" Shawn Williams, Amir Baha and Reginald Chambers, many loving aunts, uncles cousins, nephews, nieces and friends. He was preceded in death by his father Freddie Harris.

The family will receive friends at a visitation on Thursday, July 24, 2014 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at North Garland Baptist Fellowship, 5840 N. Garland Avenue, Garland, Texas 75044. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 26, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. also at North Garland Baptist Fellowship. Interment will follow at Restland Memorial Park in Dallas.

If desired, in lieu of flowers, donations are requested to be made in Sean's name to Butterflies For Lani, http://ashleyharris565.wix.com/butterfliesforlani or to the Sean Harris Memorial Fund, http://www.youcaring.com/memorial-fundraiser/sean-harris-memorial-fund-/206272
