Sandra Lee Roth (Church) was born on June 09, 1941 to Lieutenant Colonel Michael Roth and Mabel Roth. She passed away October 16, 2018.
Sandra grew up on military bases throughout the United States. Because she was the Lt. Colonel’s daughter she was often referred to as Master Sergeant of the kids. Incidentally, this military base living is what led her to become a nurse. The hospital nurses on the military base allowed her to be in the hospital facilities where she helped in any way they would allow her and also learned such things as the names of surgical tools.
Her family eventually settled in Toledo, Ohio where she graduated from DeVibiss High School in 1959. She was then accepted into Nursing School at the University of Toledo to follow her passion which was caring for people. She graduated from the university in 1963. Practicing nursing at a major hospital in New York, she worked up to the position of Head Nurse in which she specialized in critical care and intensive care. She later moved back to Sterling Heights, Michigan where she continued her nursing practice at Macomb County Hospital and where she met Ralph.
After moving to Plano, Texas in August 1978, she took time off to be a full time mother to our two children. After resuming her nursing career, she began working at Plano Medical City continuing her passion in taking care of critically ill patients which included setting up the kidney dialysis unit. After years of service in hospitals, she became a pediatric nurse in a private practice. Although Sandi retired from nursing after serving for 45 years, her nursing never stopped. She was often called to serve dear friends and the neighborhood kids. Now, she has passed on to serving our Lord Jesus Christ.
She is survived by her husband Ralph; daughter, Meryl and husband, Robert O’Neil, (son-in-love), Sachse, Texas; son, Eric Church, Little Elm, Texas; sister, Anne Williams and husband, Harvey, Carmel, California; granddaughter, Kayla Rachui, Denver, Colorado; grandson, Brandon O’Neil, Denton, Texas; granddaughter, Rachel O’Neil and grandson, Garrett O’Neil, Sachse, Texas; niece, Lisa Williams, Encinitas, California and nephew, Daniel Williams, Carmel, California; and great niece, Emma MacKay, Encinitas, California.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:30 P.M. on Wednesday, October 24, 2018 at Allen Family Funeral Options. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you make a donation, in Sandi's name, to the charity of your choice.
