Mitchell Logan Zachary was born July 1, 1940 in Jacksonville, Illinois to parents Oscar Conklin and Mary (Armstrong) Zachary. He died Thursday, January 4, 2018 following a brief illness.
Mitch graduated from Denison University in 1962 with a degree in Economics. The friends he made there as a member of Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity remained important to him for the remainder of his life. After he fulfilled his military service he received an MBA from University of Missouri in 1967.
He was a financial analyst and stockbroker until he retired in 2010. Mitch was a devoted father and grandfather, and an avid outdoorsman who loved golf. Among his colleagues he was a respected financial advisor; he is also remembered by friends as loving and giving. Mitch was a man of humility who never wanted praise. He was proud of his family and took on the role of carpooling grandchildren with good humor. His children will remember him as a man who worked hard, loved life and taught them about what truly matters. Because of the values he taught, he leaves behind a family who will truly miss him. We love you Papa Mitch.
Mitch is survived by his daughter Elizabeth Victoria Zachary and her companion Paul Tomor, son Charles Curtis Weyand and his wife Robin Zimmerman Weyand, grandchildren Elijah and Logan Elizabeth Story, Jones and Paxton Weyand, sisters Sarah Corning, Miriam Freed and her husband Robert and many loving nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife Susan Kendall Zachary and his grandson Zachary Todd Story.
