Jack Lee Thompson

February 5, 1926 — December 22, 2017

Jack Lee Thompson was born February 5, 1926 in Wichita Falls, Texas to parents W.H. and Bertha (Sanders) Thompson. He passed away December 22, 2017 in Dallas, Texas.

Jack was a kind and tender-hearted man. He was a man of prayer, a godly husband and had very strong emotions for his family. He loved the Lord, his wife, his family and was a very patriotic man who loved his country as demonstrated by his service in the Navy.

He enjoyed watching sports, especially the Dallas Cowboys (who he lovingly liked calling the Dallas Cowgirls) and the Texas Rangers. He was very pleased to witness the Houston Astros victory in the World Series after south Texas experienced the devastation from hurricane Harvey.
Jack was infamous for sharing interesting facts and jokes. Any kind of tidbits of information that one wouldn’t usually know. He was also, quietly generous in many ways.

He would probably comment on this obituary, that this was a lot of information and “whatnot.”

May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope. Romans 15:13

Jack is survived by his loving wife Patricia Thompson, children Sherri Carlson and her husband Richard, Greg Porter, Doug Porter and his wife Sharon, six grandchildren and four great grandchildren, twin sister Jean Sluder and many loving nieces, nephews and friends. He is preceded in death by daughter Tencie Thompson, brother Bill Thompson, sisters Elizabeth Taylor and Marilyn Fink.

A memorial service will be held to celebrate the life of Jack Thompson Friday, January 5, 2018 at 10:00 A.M. at Prestonwood Baptist Church, Faith Chapel, 6801 W Park Blvd, Plano, Texas 75093 with Pastor Neal Jeffrey officiating. Jack will be laid to rest at a private service at Dallas Ft. Worth National Cemetery, Dallas, Texas.
