Karis Beth Ribbe

Karis Stenson Ribbe was born April 11, 1951 in Minneapolis, MN to parents Burton and Bertha Stenson, and grew up with two older brothers and a close-knit family of aunts, uncles, cousins and grandparents. She attended college at Southwest Minnesota State University, achieving a bachelor's degree in social work. After college, she met and married Barry Ribbe, a fellow Minnesotan. Shortly after establishing roots in Minneapolis as a married couple, they were transferred to Wichita, KS and then Seattle, WA. It was in Seattle that Karis and Barry welcomed daughters Kristin and Emilie. A few years later, the young family was transferred to the north Dallas area, where they have lived for nearly 30 years. Karis and her family were active members of Resurrection Lutheran Church in Plano, TX, and Karis served the church family in many ways: Counseling peers as a Stephen's Minister, teaching Sunday School and Vacation Bible School, and leading youth group activities. Through the church, Karis established friendships with many people who touched her life, and she felt incredibly blessed to have such a large group of wonderful friends. In her professional career, she worked as an administrator in home health care and assisted living, and most recently was a teacher at The Ark Preschool in Plano. Karis is preceded in death by her father, mother and two brothers. She is survived by husband Barry Ribbe, stepson Todd Ribbe, daughters and sons-in-law Kristin and Kevin Walsh and Emilie and Andy Mundy, and granddaughters Frankie and Andie Mundy. She was a blessing to everyone who knew her, and she will be missed.
The service for Karis will be held Thursday, May 10 2012 at 4:00 PM at Resurrection Lutheran Church in Plano, 1919 Independence Parkway, Plano, TX 75075.
