Wayne Goode

September 12, 1937 — December 18, 2011

Wayne was born in Brownsville, TX on September 12, 1937 to Douglass and Hazel Goode. Much to the family's delight they were blessed with a baby girl, Naydene in 1941. Wayne was quite an outdoorsman. His mother said as a young boy he would leave early in the morning with his BB gun and fishing pole. He would maybe come home for lunch but would leave almost immediately on another adventure. Wayne liked school, but his mind was always on the outdoors. As he got older, his dad and his Uncle Jack and Aunt Gladys would take him hunting on their lease. One of his most memorable times was an adventurous fishing trip into Mexico with his neighbors.

While he was still in high school he joined the naval reserve. He spent four years in the reserve and every summer spent two weeks at a time on a naval ship. He was not that sea worthy because many times he got sea sick.

Wayne married his high school sweetheart, Jackie, in February 1959. They had a daughter, Vicki, in 1962 which he idolized. When she was about eight years, he taught his daughter how to shoot a gun and they were big hunting buddies. They went rabbit and dove hunting but they enjoyed fishing the most. Sometimes she caught more than he did, but that was ok with him. At least he got to eat them.

Wayne made his living as a salesman. He was in the carpet business for 40 years and knew everything there was about carpet and floor covering. He was a very honest and trusting man, therefore he did very well in the business. When Wayne retired, he and Jackie bought a RV and spent a lot of time traveling and camping. They enjoyed traveling to new and interesting places. They were also able to enjoy two cruises through Mexico, Boston, New York and up the east coast.

Wayne's biggest pride was his family, especially his grand daughters, Kelsey and Lindsey. He loved teaching them how to fish, even if he had to put the worms on the hooks for them. He was truly proud of both his daughter and son-in-law. To him, John was a son, not a son-in-law. Wayne had many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and a few a great, great nieces and nephews who meant so much to him. He always loved his family and family came first.

Wayne and Jackie were married for 53 glorious years and will meet again in heaven.

He was survived by his loving wife Jackie Goode, his daughter Vicki Cook and her husband John, grandchildren Kelsey and Lindsey Cook and his sister Naydene Ford and her husband Sam.
